As to the invoking of the act, it frightens and worries me greatly how many MPs are absurdly flippant and ignorant of using such a drastic measure. Did anyone ever think to to do with OWS or BLM? I remember how violent G20 summit protests used to get or Stanley Cup incidences in Montreal and Vancouver.
Did anyone - or would anyone - dare to ever call for the freezing of the bank accounts of protestors? On what planet do Liberals live to think this is justified? Worse, they basically lied about the premise. One, as noted, there was no violence or aims to 'take down' the government. Clearly, the Liberals were being schooled by the whack jobs in the Democrat party regarding the suspiciously orchestrated J6 incidence. That was no insurrection. Not by the classic definition of the term anyway. But these days actual meanings of words mean nothing to the woke-ignoramuses who redefine and reclassify words on a whim. After hearing that MP from Richmond equate honking with Heil Hitler, we learned (well, it was known but it percolated back up) Freeland is an ultra-nationalist whose grandfather was a Nazi collaborator. She herself was caught holding the scarf-flag of a Neo-Nazi group in Ukraine. Bit of a problem there, no? So why is she anywhere near this file? The conflict of interest are problematic here. Not to mention she sits on the board of the WEF. Should we freeze her bank account for being an 'extremist' based on their very own definitions?
Same with Justin. Should he be charged with hate speech for what he has said about the unvaccinated and truckers? Should we be freezing his bank accounts?
Never mind the endless stream of sleazy scandals he's constantly embroiled in.
Finally, the measures. What data and literature do these politicians read? Do they just repeat what Tam says? Nowhere has it ever been empirically proven the lockdowns or any of the measures worked. In fact, we have a growing body of evidence that show the opposite. And the negative trade-offs are catastrophic. The most recent being (and there have been dozens) from Johns Hopkins Univ. showing a .2% impact on mortality. We fractured the civil order for.....2%! Of course, if one sees things only through the funnel and prism of Covid they can make a case the lockdowns 'saved lives' but we live in a SOCIETY. You can't just make such a one-dimensional claim without looking at the overall impact on public health. This is why Sweden was far more courageous and scientific in their approach. From the onset their concern was how would such drastic measures with little scientific proof to back it up impact overall public health. Something Canadians were oblivious to and thought not to ask about. So much for being an advanced nation 'following science'. And do NOT get me going on these amulets we call masks. The absurdity of it all.
