What do you think about the fact that Francis recommends the following truth telling classics: "the betrothed" (tells truth about marriage and contemporary priests running away from pastoring same) and "Lord of the world" (apocalyptic anti anti Christ).

Professor Farrow - thank you for your continued work and service in exposing the faithful to challenging discussions about contemporary 'church' leadership and some of our current cultural issues; they are usually beyond my level of familiarity and understanding but they challenge me to push and I believe, hope, this is partly what you intend. I feel the need to ask for a beginner's course in this material, but I guess your answer/response would be to simply work through the material, which is what I have started. Thank you for your work on our behalf,

and continued may you receive all of God's blessings -

There is rather a lot to digest in this piece, to be sure. The latest motu proprio, which signposts the path of defection Francis has been following, makes clear the need for it, however.

Thanks, Doug! Your warning makes for a good read and thanks for the link to Solovyov, whose book I've downloaded. I've started into his final chapter, which I find most interesting.

Douglas, you say: "Both the atrocities of Hamas . . ." But you don't mention the atrocities of the Israeli military and leadership.

Some think there is a moral equivalence between the Israeli Regime and the Palestinians, or between the IDF and Hamas. Of course there is no such thing. The Palestinians are under brutal occupation and apartheid and thus have the legal and moral right to violent resistance. And they are and have been for decades the victims of both Zionist Israeli genocidal violence and propaganda. But both sides, though not morally equivalent, are caught up in a psy-op that is bigger than both of them:

Some good truth telling:

Theologically, I recommend Father Mawdsley on these matters, the only priest telling the truth in public. He has a book coming out that I recommend, vol 2 of this: https://onepeterfive.com/jews-elder-brother-catholics/

If you are denying that the atrocities were committed, or suggesting that Palestinian atrocities are somehow justified, hence not atrocities, you are speaking with many others. But I disagree with them profoundly and, in that case, also with you. Who is telling the truth about this or that is too complex a matter to engage here, but one cannot fudge the whole question by reference to 'violent resistance'. Evil is evil, whichever side is doing it. There is no moral or legal justification for the events that began the present war, whatever is to be said of events that are happening or may yet happen or happened earlier. I must add that I won't permit the present discussion forum to become an apology for evil. I send readers back to chapter one of Solovyov.
