I urge my own readers to read "Canada's Dreyfus Affair?" on Desiring a Better Country, if they haven't already, and to follow some of the links it contains. What is required here is some deep background, the background Regent itself seems not to have been aware of, though it ought to have been.
Thank you Douglas. This Vancouver-born UBC boy who admired Regent in the 70s and 80s agrees with you. Wondering whether the same trend was possibly shown a few years ago when Franklin Graham wanted to speak in Vancouver but many evangelical churches refused to support his meetings because they did not want to be associated with Franklin's public views on same-sex sexual relationships.
Thank you, Douglas, for making such important distinctions with care and flair.

Regent College, I'm glad to see, has issued a statement of regret that suggests a different path in the future: https://www.regent-college.edu/about-us/news/2025/statement-by-the-regent-college-board-of-governors. I'd like to think that this would have been so even had the National Post not picked up the story (likely from the Catholic Register) and given it wider attention.
The National Post has picked up this story: https://nationalpost.com/news/canada/nigel-biggar-lecture-cancelled-regent-college-vancouver
I suspect they got it from here, though they don't say: https://www.catholicregister.org/item/1730-public-lecture-at-regent-college-canceled-amid-controversy

Excellent. Thank you.

Once again, we have president warp speed and his "beautiful Confederate statues" to thank for cancel culture. See momanddadmatters.substack.com/eugenics-letter for more.
